Look I don’t have flawless amazing skin, I instead have moody oily skin. I say moody because I get a pimple here there when though I’m 26. We call them adult pimples. Moving on from the bane of my existence. Skin care routine ladies and gentlemen. It can be really confusing to know what to do to get great skin, there’s a lot of different products, suggestions, advice, recommends, skin types. Finding a skin care routine that works for you can seem like a never-ending beauty quest. Also as you age you will also find your beauty routine will also change. 15 year old me didn’t wash her face. 20 year old me started getting pimples and had to get acne treatment that worked for me. Now 26 year old me is trying anti ages products because you need to start sometime. So the below is what I use, it might not work for you but its my routine for my moody oil skin.
I’m actually going to start with my evening routine because my morning routine is heap more simplified while my evening is a whole project.
Step 1: Remove makeup.
It may seem obvious, but most cleansers won’t sufficiently dissolve heavy makeup like your mascara or sun cream.
Product: Garnier – Micellar Water
Step 2: Cleanse
Rinsing with water is not enough to clean your face. Cleansing the skin removes sweat, oil, dirt and other pollutants that your skin naturally collects throughout the day and night. When your face is clean, it allows the other products you use to work better.
Product: Exposed Skincare – Facial Cleanser
After you cleanse, toner removes any residue left behind by the cleanser as well as any makeup or oils your cleanser you missed. Toner can also help prepare your skin to absorb moisturizer and minimize the appearance of pores. Some toners may have PH balancing and antiseptic effects as well and in my case acne treatment.

Step 4: Exfoliate
Exfoliating eliminates build up of the daily shedding of millions of skin cells daily, which otherwise would cause clogged pores, uneven skin tone, dullness, and deeper wrinkles. If you struggle with blackheads, acne or breakouts, don’t miss this step however, get a gentle exfoliant. If you have sensitive skin I don’t recommend this step daily.
Product: Dermalogica – Daily Microfoliant
Step 5: Acne Treatment
In the case of acne treatments for best results applied as close to the skin as possible to maximize the benefits. Acne treatments normal dries up excess oil and kills bacteria in your pimples. For best results personally I allow at least five minutes before layering on the next product to ensure it doesn’t knock out the benefits.

Step 6: Eye Cream
If you aren’t using eye cream START, apparently you need to start eye cream in your 20s. It’s about maintaining the health and thickness of the eyelid and under eye. Improving the skin quality in this area early on ensures that the eyelid skin does not easily lose laxity and its smooth appearance later on, it also help with dark circles and bags. Some people do this step in a different order however I believe its like the acne treatment and needs to be applied to the skin as close as possible.
Product: Olay – Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum
Step 7: Serums
Serums are super-concentrated treatments that address specific concerns for me its just making my skin better. So again it’s better to apply it as close to the skin as possible. Some people apply multiple serums that cater to different skin concerns, but if you are doing this apply the ones with the thinnest consistency first and then build.
Product: Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate
Step 8: Night Cream
Yes there is a different between night and day cream. Skin behaves differently when your sleeping and when you’re awake. Night creams slowly absorb into the skin overtime and are super hydrating.
Product: Garnier – Miracle Sleeping Cream
Step 9: Face Oil
I have super oil skin however strangely I find that applying oil prevents oils. I find oil’s heavy so I would apply is after everything else. Using facial oils over time can really improve the state of your skin.
Product: Sukin – Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil
Myth: You have to spend a fortune
Save your pricier item for leave-on products instead of washing them down the drain. They’re most effective when they stay concentrated on the skin. As you can see from my list of produce not everything I use will break the bank.
Hope this helps you somehow or tell me about your routine and recommendations.
