So this year’s theme is the year of happiness.
For those who know me, know that I don’t set new year goals or resolutions because I feel like they set you up for failure.
Have you ever made a list super long list of things you want to achieve in the New Year? Every year, maybe you manage to tick a few things off the list, which feels incredible, but the things you don’t complete make me feel like you failed.
Following on from CGP Grey from the Cortex podcast I set a them. I know some people call them an intention, like my 2018 intentions are…. But I just prefer a theme because and intentions are great but you could intend to climb a mountain but instead stay in bed. While a theme for me feels like a roughly guide to steer choices.
So instead of making goals like I will go to the gym 6 days a week, which we all know I won’t do. I just have in the back of my mind to be more active if my theme was the year of Health. That was my theme last year.
The benefits of themes are they allow you to think and focus on your values. Themes have no limits, they are expansive, and they get you out of your our head and don’t feel like you failed because you didn’t hit the gym.
So back to my theme.
This year I will focus on doing things that make me happy like exercising more, eating better, doing fun activities with friends and study… maybe even blogging more
